5 – Neurological Conditions
Scientists are currently conducting research on the effects of upper cervical adjustments on a wide variety of brain-based conditions, and the results are quite remarkable. Through the use of an upright MRI, researchers have found that cerebral spinal fluid and blood flow are significantly increased after chiropractic care. Moreover, the care has shown to reverse brain plaquing common in MS patients, improving their symptoms and slowing down the progression of their condition.
6 – Blood Pressure
In 2007, George Bakris published a study in the Human Journal of Hypertension that proved one upper cervical chiropractic adjustment was just as effective at treating hypertension as two blood pressure lowering drugs on the market. What’s even more surprising is that the adjustment lasted over 6 months, compared to the drugs that needed constant replenishment. Other studies have revealed similar results about blood pressure reduction after chiropractic care, to the point that many doctors are now sending their patients to chiropractors for treatment of hypertension.
7 – Surgery Prevention
Chiropractic has long been considered a useful tool in preventing back surgery, which can be painful, costly, and difficult to recover from. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) recently published a set of guidelines for patients with lower back pain, and in it they suggested seeing a chiropractor before going through surgery.
8 – Frozen Shoulder
A clinical trial from last year revealed that patients with frozen shoulder were about to receive relief from chiropractic care. The study assessed 50 patients, and 16 of them saw complete resolution of their problems. Only 1 participant reported less than a 50% improvement in symptoms.
9 – Scoliosis
When coupled with muscular rehabilitation, chiropractic can minimize the progression of scoliosis. There are entire organizations out there now that help healthcare professionals treat their scoliosis patients through chiropractic care. Many patients have reported a 10% to 30% reduction in their scoliosis curvature after working with a chiropractor.
10 – Athletic Performance
Did you know that over 50% of NFL teams have an on-staff chiropractor? It’s true! That’s because chiropractic care has been proven to relieve pain and improve athletic performance. Studies have shown that patients have better immune systems, stronger pulmonary functions, reduced muscle tension, and higher energy levels after just a few trips to the chiropractor.
Chiropractic adjustments are about so much more than relieving back pain. Consider this the next time you get a bill from your doctor for a routine treatment. A simple spinal adjustment could be just what you need.
